Could somebody give me some advice on what kind of processor, Mainboard etc to buy?

I had an dual Celeron in mind, but I don't know which celeron has the best Price/ preformance(I want it to be very good overclockable, and cheep) or what Mainboard to use.

I know there are many hardware sites with lots of info on this topic but I like to hear it from someone who can speak out of experience.

p.s. I'm dutch so If you know a good hardware store(cheep).....

One thing you must know is that Windows 98 does NOT support dual processors, so if you want to buy a dual Celeron you have to use Windows NT or Linux, which are not user-friendly OS.

The best motherboards to overclock are:
Abit BX6 or BE6 (BE6 support UDMA/66) and Asus P3B-F
They are Jumperfree (you set the clockspeed and all the stuff in the BIOS), but both are Slot1 (Pentium II/III), so you may need a Socket370 to Slot1 Convertor to use a Celeron CPU.
For dual Celerons use Abit BP6 motherboard.

I think the cheap-best choice is to overclock a Celeron 366MHz OEM CPU (OEMs are cheaper but you have to buy a good heatsink/fan to overclock) to as much as 550Mhz. Warning: Not all processors are stable when overclocked, and you will lose the warranty, keep the cpu cool or it will burn.

If anything goes wrong just turn it back to normal

if you got the money i would say go for the athlon.
These processors are that expensive and are easily to overclock with the asus motherboard.
For the grapchics card i would say just wait until the tnt 3 is released this is before the end of this year and has a standard of 64 mb
For the soundcard i suggest a live or live player and dolby digital surround sound 5.2 Speakers.

Which 'family' of processors was it that intel are introducing a system that doesn't allow multiple processors? (In order to force people to buy the more expensive ones)

Ik werk op een P II 350, en dat gaat perfect.

Maar als geld geen rol speelt, neem dan in ieder geval internet via de kabel, dat is zwaar relaxed...

ik heb zelf een abit bp6 en dual celeron 366@550 met 256mb sdram en dat roelt hard...
ik wacht nog ff op windows 2000 voor de dual support en dan is het helemaal goed (wie kan windows 2000 rc2 al leveren ?)

Hack: waar koop jij je geheugen man ? plz tell me, want als ik ze nog zo goedkoop kan krijgen kan ik rijk worden...

Het nieuws op TV of krant al eens gelezen/bekeken ? Aardbeving in Taiwan

Alles dat naar ginder moet gaan of moet komen van ginder loopt vertraging op ==> deadlines/leveringen gaan niet door ==> prijzen beginnen op te lopen ==> markt zakt in mekaar.

Het ziet er met andere woorden momenteel niet schitterend uit en let op er gaan nog dingen volgen : moederborden (?), harddisks (?), processoren (?), ...
