Heres my background.

Morrigan and Lillith from the anime Darkstalkers. [1079x809 - 317KB]

For my desktop, imagine the XP toolbar down the bottom, with 'The Computer' (renamed from My Computer) in the top left hand corner with my avatar instead of the crappy default icon.

Re: Show us YOUR desktop!

i stopped using skinning tools such as windowblinds or other "fun" things since i felt a drop in performance of my pc - i know this should not happen, my gf's pc is still skinned in any place but just from my feeling my machine runs faster without all that "it-must-look-cool" stuff...

Re: Show us YOUR desktop!

I've not noticed a drop in performance at all. I think they changed a lot of the progams so they don't drain resources....especially DesktopX widgets.

Re: Show us YOUR desktop!

Here's the desktop for my desktop PC. Not showing you my laptop (mostly because it looks very similar).

So here's the grand tour of my desktop... you will notice that I have auto-arrange turned on, and I just had the darn thing sort by alphabetical order...

Some of my most notable (frequently-used) icons...
- LiteOn folder (very last icon)... actually should be named "optical"; contains firmwares, media scans, backups of my CDF PMs, backups of certain posts, source code and version archives for my programs, etc.
- Gaim for Windows...
- WWWinamp Server Startup... a must-have. I am a devoted Winamp fan. And WWWinamp is a server that runs in the background (I edited the source code so that it doesn't display that annoying console window and truly runs in the background) allows me to remotely control what my desktop computer (which has the better speakers) from my laptop
- Windiff... great for comparing test files
- Hexcmp... great for comparing hex files Useful for... things...
- NoteTab Light... (Google it up; it's a very nice free text editor)
- Services... quick link to computer's services control so that I could kill InCD when I don't need it.
- A link to my laptop's desktop
- WinEdt... LaTeX editor... if I have to TeX up one more document... grr...
- M$ Virtual PC... for running Linux and Win98 (I use Win98 to test compatibility of programs that I write)

On the quick-launch
- Firefox!!!!!!!!!!!
- SSH
- Task Manager (check processes without having to Ctrl-Alt-Del all the time)
