| Paying For On-Line Games On-line games are becoming more and more common thesedays. What do you think about the on-line fees some of these games charge for the privilage. Personnally if I am paying £** for a game in a shop I don't want to have to pay a monthy fee as well to be able to play the game. Paying for the game and then free online would be acceptable or a free download with a monthly on-line fee (depending on how much) would also be acceptable, but both, that seems like paying twice for the same game. Gimmie some thoughts. Am I missing out on some great games by sticking to my guns or do a few of you feel the same way about paying time and time again. What form do you think the paying for on-line gaming should continue in?

| The best ripoff has to be Phantasy Star online for the XBOX. You will need XBOX live : $$/month You will need Phantasy Star : $$$$ You will need a Phantasy Star subscription : $$/month Excuse me ? I paid for the Xbox , i paid for the game , i pay for my internet connection , i pay for xbox live and now the game wants to add another subscription ?? Fuck it. Either this game is so absolutely superdeluxe wonderful that it will pale in front of any other game in exsitence , or there is something very very wrong with the game devloping industry. 2nd best ripoff : Gamespy. I wish i never paid $20 for that stupid account. 3rd best ripoff : Everquest. It's like heroine so i have heard. |

| You didn't include : I play online games that don't need to be bought or paid for. Example: At the moment, I am playing a MMORPG called Conquer (www.conqueronline.com). It is a Diablo-like game. It is a free download, and the way that they get their money is from people buying items (Dragonballs) from them via Paypal. Of course you don't have to buy them, but they make thousands of dollars a day from it - no need for spy/adware (*EYES GAIN*). |

| Yes there are loads of free multiplayer games out there (www.utopia.com) without blazing 3D graphics and EAX sound that are still fun. On the topic, no I will never pay a monthly fee for a game that I've paid once for. Either I buy the game in the shop and go home playing with it on the internet or I go to the internet and check it out then buy a subscription for it. Any gamemaker that wants me to first pay the game then pay a subscription can eat the dust on my attic.

| I would pay for a monthly fee if I didn't have to pay a large ammount for the game (Maybe $20 with a free month but nothing more). BUT, monthly fess are WAY to high at the moment. $13-$15 a month is overboard. If I could pay $5-$10 a month I would probably play one.

| Extra option required, I would pay for the game OR the online fee, but not both.

| I will never pay for a game on a monthly basis. Because you never know when you'll get bored of it, or be too busy to play it. They're probably a bitch to reactivate if you stop playing for a few months, and in a few years it's totally useless. Most people play more than one game...$10 or $15 charges start to add up. One time charge or bust. @Belvedere: At least your not playing FF XI for PS2 eh? Gotta pick up the hard drive and online adapter . And they're useless for most other games. But I think XBOX Live is pretty terrible as well...you already pay for internet access, paying to set up matches is like paying for GameSpy....worthless![]()

| I don't think the cost of XBox Live is too bad (£40 a year) but when I get it I won't be paying extra for any games.

| Paying for a game is acceptable... (although I never do that, as I hardly play games... just some on the XBOX ans those I borrow from my friend), but I'd never pay for the online gaming... (ok I admit, I have no point in online gaming as I even don't have the time to play a game standalone, let be playing for hours online). If I wanted to play online (using the XBOX) I'd use XBC and game for free ![]()
