I think what you meant to say is: Oh yes, I've gotten rid of all my friends by giving them my 25 RITEK G05.

I feel sorry for those who have the MCC04's.......
There are actually plenty of legit reasons for using a lot of media. Beyond those that are mentioned, I have over a terabyte of hard drive space and while I'm really slack about backing up, whne I do, I don't trust -rw's, and just use dvd+r's. I have an old book of cd's (maybe 200 cause its full), of all my old music, and while some wont play because they are scratched, some will not play. rip, read or anything because of age. I of course have other cd's but these are the ones that are dead and probably unrecoverable. I wont let the saem happen with my dvd's. I have backups and with more liked movies, double backups. I have a huge colection of tv shows (might have bit torrented a few to fill in missing eppisodes), and it is growing fast. 4 eppisodes per disk, the usage adds up fast. Also, like Arachne pointed out, we have a variety of disks for diffrent drives. I would go further and say that I actually enjoy burning and testing various disks with various drives and firmwares etc. I have a very wide variety (in smaller quantities) of many diffrent medias from that. While I really don't have time for that much anymore (still havent flashed my 740 to a 1640 and have had it for months), I still occationally play a little. I just bought a 5 pack of jvc, made in china 16x media for 3.20$. The 8x made in china jvc disks were by far the most horrible disks I have ever experienced (makes princo look like ty), so it was just morbid curosity and only 5 disks. Unfortunatlly none of my drives even recognises it (8x is the best that came up).
There are lots of reasons for so much media and of course the biggest, is that I am a saleaholic. I cannot resist a too good to pass up deal on media, weather I need it or not.

The only way I could feel this sad now is if I felt something really good before. So I have to take the bad with the good. So I guess what I'm feeling is like a beautiful sadness.

Courage and perseverance have a magical talisman, before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish into air.

The truth can be found here http://jhtalisman.blogspot.com/

The most important things are the hardest to say. They are the things you get ashamed of, because words diminish them-words shrink things that seemed limitless when in your head to no more than living size when they're brought out. But it's more than that, isn't it? The most important things lie close to wherever your secret heart is buried, like landmarks to a treasure your enemies would love to steal away. And you may make revelations that cost you dearly only to have people look at you in a funny way, not understanding what you've said at all, or why you thought it was so important that you almost cried while saying it. That's the worst, I think. When the secret stays locked within not for want of a teller but for the want of an understanding ear. - Stephen King, intro to "The Body."

Yeah, you've almost run dry there, zevia.
I suggest you hurry to your nearest media shop in the morning and get some more media!

I remember a picture of OC-Freak's "test lab" in LiteOn forum 1 or 2 years ago (can't seem to find it now ). That was a nice place with a lot of discs. Wish i had an office like that

I used all mine before I knew what they were (Panasonic branded). I do have 9 or so YUDEN000 T01s though.

Re: How Big is your .. err .. Stash!

I bought 200 before I really got into scanning, when I found out they were the best media I have ever seen, they were long gone. I thought 99's were the rule not the exception. I gave some away!

after all they were value second class media

Haha, I gave some away as well - my neighbour had some Philips C08s that he didn't want (he prefers - media), so I traded my TYG01s for his C08s.

If I knew then what I know now...LOL

Hey xtacydima:

Do those old school 6x TDK cd-r's still burn well? They must be at least 8 years old right?

HAHA, Yes I was just typing fast it is T02 and all are +R's... but if I ever come to the UK I doubt I would bring them so if you decide to mug me you really won't get much more than a few bucks, a nice Nike watch, and my pants.

Why yes they do, to this day I am more than convinced they are more solid than anything else ever made in terms of CD-R then and even now. Actually, my burner now burns them better than my old, old, old Samsung 6x burner did at the time.

I get them from a supplier in Japan but after shipping and the rate at $1 per disc it's quite costly at near $2 per disc. I use these to store my most valueable music and basically treat them as gold, just like an original. I kick myself now for at one point using them for throw away data... now replaced by the generic silver non-brand name cd's.
