I guess that as soon as this was published, the license from previous version was revoked. I installed 5.08e (in a separate directory) and my Napster downloads now play again, but 5.08e gives an error message whenever you try to play DRM content through an output plug-in other than DirectSound (even Wavout isn't allowed).
So it seems
the Winamp method is dead. I'm pretty sure the
Virtuosa method will be killed off soon too - the only reason it hasn't is because Winamp has had all the attention so far.
