| They probably added the ability to customize where and how many times it checks for the protection. IIRC, there where a few Safedisk protected games a year or so ago that would check at each level, not just at game start. I think Safedisk is made customizable in this way for the game publishers, just not many utilize it.
It'll have to be taken on a game by game basis.
