I have a Sony DVP-NS715P stand alone progressive scan DVD player. It seems to play all pressed DVD-ROMs just fine. It has done a good job with home burned VCDs and SVCDs. Lately I have noticed that several FujiFilm (Taiyo Yuden) and Verbatim DVD+Rs burned in my NEC 3500A/Mad Dog dangerous brothers beta bit set to DVD-ROM with
Nero 6.6.0.3 and NeroVision Express 3.0.1.14 have places in the video that will break up and freeze during playback on my Sony stand alone.
I thought that maybe the laser lens in my stand alone was dirty so I ran a Memorex laser lens cleaning disk several times. That helped a bit but not completely. I tried the "problem" disks in my computer DVD burner and in a portable DVD player and the disks seem to play perfectly with no stutter or freezing. This leads me to believe that maybe the laser lens is still dirty or maybe my stand alone has some kind of tracking problem.
Does anyone have any ideas on what may be causing this? Any ideas on how to correct this - short of buying a new player?
Thanks,
Bob Shem
