Actually I have read some posts about conflicts with DVD+-R/RW drives and SP 2.
I myself have had no problems.
I suggest to Upgrade your drive firmware 1st, then use the drive for awhile befor installing SP 2. That should give you a base reference point to judge for yourself if there are any conflicts.
