I don't think that it's so much the cookies downloading but the information they normally traffic that results in the slowdown. Between the hosts file, the firewall, and the reg file I haven't had any popups or spyware in a while. The only thing that sucks about this some sites spend more time trying to sneak some popups through than loading the site. I hate that, you know that's the case because when you allow popups the site loads quick, but you get hosed. When you block the popups it starts a port scan and sits there looking for a way to hose you with crap first. Sites like that piss me off. If I spot anything that needs to be added should I post it here? |
Yes please do, I wlecome all contributions, although I don't expect too many cause after having near 2000 on the list already, the rest will come one in a few here and there, maybe add a total of between 5-10 things to the list yearly.
I suspected and proved it would help get a speed boost, as well as some others here have seen it too.
About the popups, I use a deadly combination of a HOSTS file, .reg file for IE, and popupcop. I have been ad-aware and spybot clean from the time I started this project. Its so nice to never have to worry again.
Thanks for trying it, and do report anything you find here!!!
