Got Sims 2 to work ... somewhat. You'll be disappointed by the lack of info in my post. I have a sony something burner, windows ME, a 4 yr. old 'puter with 600 mhz processor.
I used
Clonecd 4.-something. The last version that supports the elaborate bites registration. Set on protected game cd.
Keep the copy it makes of disc 1, you'll need it!!! Uninstall clonecd afterward, because the game will detect it during load and say "emulation software detected" or give you a ~df394b.tmp error.
Install the game with the discs, then you need alcohol 120% 1.9 something. Put the discs away and load the copy of disc 1 onto the virtual drive of alcohol. It'll run!!!
It took me 2 days of coming here and reading to get it to work. I would like to thank all of you for saving all my originals from my children!!! I have a 4 yr. old who destroys anything shiny and round. LOL
Now, even my backups will be safe! I've put them all up, and will be using the virtual drive. Saves me from coming home from school to find my disc on the 'puter desk wrong side up and scratched beyond saving! Thank you Safedisc 3.2! :-P
