You will find that if you set the book-type to dvd-rom, the game will load faster and play more smoothly. I started off using dvd-r and for the most part, they worked great. However some disc read intensive games, slowed down too much as the disc couldn't be read quick enough.

Nowadays i use verbatim 4x dvd+r set to dvd-rom and they all play perfectly. They are read a lot faster. I tried at 8x, and they seem fine but towards the end of the game you might get a few jumps. Also using nero cd-speed dvds burnt at 4x produce much better results.
