More 5.5 q's...

ScubaPete or anyone else: *ahem, clears throat* "Extreme noobness here"...I just picked up a LiteOn 811S (HSOK Firmware) the other day, and succesfully burned a fine backup of Runaway Jury as a test disc using DVD Decrypter & DVDShrink. Yahoo!

My question is this: my 2 year old LiteOn CDRW that I just removed to make room for the DVDRW came with a bundled version of Nero 5.5 - 5.5.7.2 to be exact. I have grown to use and enjoy this software quite well. Having read the posts in this thread, I thought "Great!" I can use this version of Nero to burn DVD's with, right? Wrong!

My bundled version of Nero does not have the drop down choice of CD or DVD that is mentioned many times in this thread. In fact, I don't have a drop down at all - only a window with many different CD choices. Under my "Choose Recorder" tab at the top of the menu, my 811S isn't listed, only a "virtual drive".

Am I to assume that Nero wasn't kidding when they said "this software will only work on the recorder it came bundled with"?

If this is indeed the case, can I simply upgrade this bundled version and have full functionality?

Great Forum/responses...keep up the good work guys.
