| TMPGenc does NOT have problems with WAV or MP3 audio, it just cannot handle VBR MP3 or AC3 audio now common in DivX files.
As suggested, use VirtualDUB to extract the AC3 audio and convert to WAV using BeSweet. Then use that as Audio Source in TMPGenc.
If your making DVDR's or SVCD's from the AVI then just leave it at 48khz, thats never a problem. But VCD's must have 44.1khz audio
