here is how.

OK. Some more news.

I tried to DPM the CD in my Plextor and it failed at 97%. This also happened in my other drives. I know for traditional Safedisc DPM is not needed but I always thought the process completed. Maybe I am wrong.

Anyhow I made the image with the following settings.

Read Speed Max
Read Subchannel Data (thought it couldn't hurt)
Ignore Read Errors

I disabled skip error blocks to make the reader a little slower over the bad sectors.

I then burnt the image at Max speed and disabled Bypass EFM error as the Plexwriter premium can do them OK.

The result is a working 1:1 copy. However it would seem that it is the bypass EFM error which causes the problem. I tried the same thing in my Laptop drive which requires the bypass setting and it didn't work. So it looks like SD3 can be copied but only with certain compatible hardware and the bypass feature no longer works.

Anyhow

UP YOURS MACROVISION.
im assuming you mean fast skip errors being turned off becuase if you turn off skip errors it will abort on the first error correct.

also everyone take it when someone says 1:1 copy with a grain of salt..i would call it more a working copy. theres still drives that still wont work with it.. hence the need for bw and autoplay or alchohol and emulation. alchohol works pretty good for me but i still have cetain drives that the copies wont work in. and yes i know how to copy..

cd burning newbies get frustrated when someone says that they can get a working copy that works in thier drives and the newbie cant get it to work in all his/her drives and they both use the same drive to burn with.

rule of thumb is if its a good sd killer the copy should work in the same drive as you backed it up in. if your lucky it will work in all of your cdrw drives with hide atip enabled (newer drives seem to work better). dont be discouraged if some of your drives will not run the title..i have a creative cdr drive (3 years old or so) and a laptop cdrw drive that will absolutly not run copies without emulation such as autoplay that comes with blindwrite. its usually the crappy drives that will not run the copies.
