I would wager that your higher grade media is the reason for your success. Try using a good Ritek disk, they're a bit more expensive, but worth it, to lose all the aggro. They are also more compatible with a wide range of standalones.

If you are using DVD Decryptor/DVD2one/Burning, with no other tinkering, you dont need ifoedit/get vts sectors.

A few other things to watch, disable screen savers whilst burning and dont try using the PC during the burning stage. Also if burning at 2 x or higher, try a lower speed, if you get problems.
