| Boy do I feel like a jackass. It was just a main movie encode, thus no structural menu from which to choose the subtitle track. I hardly use my remote when I play DVDs, hence I was ignorant of there even being a subtitle button on it. After having reviewed my last burn on my set-top player, I looked at the remote and sure enough pressed the subtitle button...voila, problem solved.
Great way to join the forum with such a brilliant first post.
Anyway, thanks for the SUPER obvious suggestion...
