I too own Compaq nx6125 notebook which has same Slimdrive. My drive also had Firmware version CC15 as you have. I successfully crossflashed firmware with version CU01 and tried other versions on that page. CU01 gave my drive capability to write DVD-R DL but it removed the capability to read DVD-RAM . You may try those firmware and in case you need to revert back the original firmware just flash it with CC15 version. But be sure of what you are doing before flashing and it's on your own risk

. Try to flash with auto versions and in case you want to remove region coding you may flash with RPC I version (Both AUTO Reset and RPC I versions are in zip package, which can be downloaded from the above mentioned website).

to know which firmware revisions work best for the drive.

Same firmware updates applies to GMA-4082N, GSA-4082N and GWA-4082N versions as basically they belong to same family:
