Re: Introduce yourself: Say hi !

Hello All!

I am Terry from Maryland, USA. I am 58...and I have been teaching Technology, A+ for awhile. I hold an advanced degree in Acoustical Engineering.
I'm a Beta Tester for a few s/w companies including one for Internet Security.

I started duplicating DVDs back when DVDXCopy was first released...way back then shut down...that on-going programming became DVDNextCopy, and I have a copy of that s/w but only on my office PC.

I did not like the fact that DVDNextCopy keeps track of which PC's unique address...allowing only one functioning copy to be used ..and if you try to use it on another, they'll shut you down.

I bought DVDFab Platinum when they first started up and now have two versions of 4 and 5 that run great! The programmers are always tweaking the program and it always is getting better. Their customer service is #1!

Keep up the great work! As a teacher I have made duplicates of my own DVDs that the students typical destroy after a few months...now I can keep my original and use a duplicate in classes.

BTW, the best external DVD drives I have used are the LGs. I use the GSA E10L, the GSA E40L (a faster E10L) and my HP internal LG GSA E30L!

My classes also go through dozens of school purchased DVD drives...I now specify LGs...and no more problems!

Question:

May 31/2008***At home, I have found just today that DVDFab version 4 or 5 could not copy a Rambo III: Ultimate Edition...it had a cycling error during the initial read...non-stopping.

This is a new old 1988 copy, but in 1988 they tried to use this DVD as a hybrid for both PC and DVD players. This was a new non-patented technology for the Rambo Trilogy.

After testing all my drives and even different PCs, I went back to DVDNextCopy...the latest standard release. It had a problem with copying to a dual-layer disc, but made a perfect copy onto DVD5, a single disc.

I wrote to the technology folk at DVDFab about the error, and I am sure they'll get it resolved quickly.

CDfreaks is a great forum!

Best regards,

Terry
