Do I need to uninstall DVDFab to get my drive back? Already did a clean uninstall before I installed the new platinum version, took about 2 hours and I really don't want to do it again if there's another - simpler - way.

If you want to just reinstall the device driver for the burner, and assumming you have control panel in classic view, try the following:

Start>Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device Manager Click the + next to DVD/CD drives. Right click your drive and uninstall. Reboot so windows reinstalls the drives drivers. Should be good to go.
