Ok guys, here's some more info on RUEHL for those of you that aren't informed...
The Elements of Ruehl
For those who don't work there or have yet to see one, here's some background information, albeit, unnecessary, that you should know. If anything it should add to the "experience":
The store front is made to look like a Greenwitch Village brownstone. More accurately, 3 brownstones. Nos. 921, 923, and of course 925. Each "house" has it's own story respectively. The first was the home of a leatherman by the name of Ruehl who emmigrated here from Germany around the 1850's. His leathershop was a successful one as his store was quite popular and he made a decent living. You can see the elements of this as you first walk into the store and into the "leathershop". His son took over the business and moved in next door, to 923. The son was quite intreged with the fashion styles of James Dean, leather and jeans so he decided he would make an attempt and producing the same look. And thus RUEHL jeans were "born". All four concepts have a huge focus on denim now, but the RUEHL brand wants to differenciate itself by being THE denim authority. With Desiel and Lucky already established, one can only hope. And, of course, we enter No. 925, the current state of RUEHL. No. 925 incorporates all that was past into the new world, where the grandson of Ruehl was more interested in the finer aspect of life... books, art, and music. Look up at the walls as you walk in and you'll notice the antiqued books... many of them first editions. Yes, they are for sale. There are fine works of art (no, not for sale) out and about the store for you to look at. Yes, you can browse through them, they are bolted securely to the floor. Our logo is a French Bulldog, named Trubble. His story goes like this: "Upon opening their shop in Greenwich Village, little did the Ruehl family realize that their first customer would be an inquisitive little bulldog with a steadfast demeanor and a confident attitude." I guess we can't even keep the dogs out.
Check out our fine music selection which includes such artists as Miguel Migs, Frou Frou, and Theivery Corporation, all available at the cashwrap. The lastest up and coming periodicals are also available and occasionally we'll even sell you some fresh flowers.
So yeah, next time you're in the House of Ruehl, sit down, relax, pick up a New York Times, and bask in the richness that we have created just for you.
