Yes, I think its on the way out. My old drive exhibited this sort of erratic behaviour as it was dying a slow death (slower than it should have been as I stupidly tried to hang onto it for as long as possible). The drive showed good burns but bad verifies but the disks were "OK" - the reader was failing.

I predict that you'll see more strange behaviour over the next few months before it finally gives up the ghost.

But at least you have now proved that it isn't an ImgBurn issue. 2.4.1 works fine.
