Comedy - 5 Stars
Written By: Diablo Cody
Directed by: Jason Reitman
An oddly upbeat, verbally talented, and witty 16 year old girl, Juno MacGuf finds herself pregnant from a one time sexual encounter with her 16 year old best friend, Paulie Bleeker.
Originally deciding to opt for an abortion, Juno ultimately cannot go through with, but know's she's in no position to be a mother.
Juno decides to have the baby and give it up for adoption. After telling her Dad and Stepmom, who would've preferred her be on hard drugs or expelled, they come around and ultimately are very supportive.
Searching through the want ads Juno finds a young, wealthy, yuppie couple; Mark and Vanessa Lorring who are looking for a child. After a brief meeting with them, they agree on Juno giving birth to the baby and them adopting it.
Filled with lightning fast wit, sappy humor, and emotional sequences; this movie delivers in a perky way. I found myself drawn in by the depth of most of the characters.
Jason Bateman's (Mark Lorring) performance was lackluster, while Ellen Page (Juno MacGuff) was stunning in her portrayal of a character that typically marches to her own drummer.
Well written in it's course of emotion and humor. Well directed in depth and cinematography.
All in all, this one is a must see.
