The appearance of problems after installing latest version of ImgBurn can be only a coincidence.
A possibility is that your hard disc is beginning to fail, so I suggest to run a checkdisc. For what i know, each HDD manufacturer have a specific tool to check their drives that is freely available from the website.
Alternatively, you can use the chkdisc tool embedded in Windows.
Another test you can do is to buy some new cables, because also a damaged cable can give these errors.
Another thing that can cause this problem is a buggy IDE driver (for example, it happened to me and to many people when using nVidia IDE drivers). You can try to uninstall IDE drivers and reboot, letting Windows install the standard Microsoft IDE drivers, that are fully working in most of systems.
