You have to turn it on in bios though. | While i agree how neatly speedstep compliments the C2D's COOL (NOT hearing my large diameter slow rotation fans  ) efficiency it was my understanding and experience that its role is to throttle back cpu clock speed to 1.6 GHZ when the PC is idle or if activity falls under a certain threshold rather than being initiated by the cpu's actual temp?
