Well, I wouldn't be as harsh about it, but I've wondered about this myself.

Shouldn't the new release threads basically be the announcement regarding the new release, & the comments limited to issues with this particular release & problems in previously releases that it is attempting to fix?

General questions perhaps would be better served in their own thread.

And perhaps there could be a separate "Thank You" thread where folks could express their appreciation to the authors? They really do deserve a lot of praise, but to have a zillion "thank yous" to wade thru makes it difficult for everyone who is trying to keep up with all the latest info particular to each release.

These are just suggestions. I'm a relative newcomer & I really appreciate all the help I have found here! I know you folks have been doing things this way for a long time, but just a hoping you might consider some ideas that might make things a bit easier & more productive for all.
