i take it you mean using main movie mode, and not a dvd to mobile mode. however downloading ffdshow and vlc may help with that too.
please download VLC. completely free. great player.
find the ripped file either video_ts folder or iso file. right click, then play with VLC.

i assume you are trying to use windows media player. (you havent told us) if so stop using wmp, wmp is not good. suggest using vlc 0.8.6b found here
