For the IDE, there is the Primary IDE with device 0 and device 1. Device 0 is Ultra DMA Mode 5. Device 1 is not applicable. For secondary IDE, after UN install & reboot, has changed to PIO only for device 0 & 1. |
You need to Get your Secondary IDE to DMA
PIO is a problem
If you can Not get your DMA - to Reset
Contact Dell Support
You may need to apply a 'Patch' ( there's one below )
Try this - from Dell ...
Utility to set Secondary IDE controller CD devices to DMA mode.
-or/ then -
Try this :
Remove DVD43
Search your Computer for all 'Files and Folders(inc Hidden) for DVD43
Delete any Remnants
Run CCleaner > Registry > Fix All Issues
> Reboot
Try Resetting your DMA as Instructed
> Uninstall each Drive
> Uninstall the Secondary IDE
( OR RUN the DMA PATCH )
> Reboot Twice
If Successful .... then Reinstall DVD43 4.1 > Reboot

Did your LITEON DVD-ROM LTD163 - come with your Computer ?
A Dell ..... right ?
Dell has Removed all Direct Links for Firmware for the LTD163

That's probably their way of saying :
"If you still have this Drive - You should replace it "
Your DVD-Rom Drive must be 4-5 years old
It may have Died
If the Drive is Bad
- This Might be your DMA/PIO Problem
Your Plextor - isn't getting any younger - either
If a DVD drive last 2 years - That's outstanding
The good news is
New Burners are only $30.00+/-
LG // LG H55 Samsung 202 Pioneer 115
$30.00 +/-
I , myself , would replace the DVD-ROM Drive - with a new burner

I couldn't find Drag to Disc by itself. I tried to change Roxio and the only option it gave me was to have a desktop icon or not. I haven't used Roxio since 2-2-05 so I deleted the whole Roxio Easy Media Creator 7 Basic DVD Edition.
|
If you've Completely removed Roxio
Run this :
Roxio Zap 1.0
Remove Roxio software trails from your computer
You might try running This - Before trying to Fix your DMA again ....

I Downloaded and installed the VSOInspector. It seems simple enough. Insert Movie DVD Open Inspector, select scan, wait a moment then it tells me, Blank media inserted. Then the Interactual media player open and the movie starts.
I must be missing something in the instruction process.
|
The
InterActual media player
- is the devil
It's probably Blocking Access - to the Drive
.... So that the VSOInspector - can't read the Disc ....
Beware the infamously annoying
InterActual Player : AutoRun Program
Found & removed Autorun from Video DVD!
The DVD that you are trying to Back-Up
- May be trying to Install a PC Friendly , AutoRun Program / Player
Be Sure to Close any 'Auto-Run' Player Prompts DO NOT ALLOW these 'Players' to Install
.... and/ or .... even better .....
>>
Press and Hold the < SHIFT > key
- when inserting the DVD into your Source Drive
>>
Hold The SHIFT key : Until the LED Stops Blinking
This will Block the DVDs 'Auto-Run'
````````````````````````````
Maybe your Drive - is not properly 'Refreshing'
Since You're using DVD43 ( and the same could apply to
AnyDVD ) :
Each time You finish with one Disc > Close
1Click
> Let DVD43 recognize the Next Disc
> Open your DVD Player - and skip though a little of the Disc
>> Close your DVD Player
> Now Open 1Click
If there seems to be a Problem - Reading the Source
> Close 1Click
> Remove the Disc
> Replace the Disc
> Let DVD43 recognize the Disc
> Open your DVD Player - and skip though a little of the Disc
>> Close your DVD Player
> Now Open 1Click
You need to Allow DVD43 / Your Source drive to "Refresh"
I set both drive to Take no action when disc inserted.
I've run Advance Windows Care and unchecked I believe everything that was listed there. I think it was 4 of the items have turned themselves on. The list shows the same file, one unchecked and the other now checked.
I got into end it all just a bit and thought it was more that I wanted to attempt at the moment. I'll need to do a bit more reading before I start messing with that one.I have a couple backups to do so I will give them a rip and post results later.
Thanks, Dan
In AWCP - start-Up :
You would have to Tell me what those Programs were
- that - turned themselves back On
There are Certain things that might need to Start with Windows
( AntiVirus , UPS ...etc )
The Great thing about EnditALL
..... Is it just 'Closes" - what's Running
EnditALL - doesn't "Change" Anything
When you Reboot - Everything -IS - as Before
You go right back to how you were
Once you try it once or twice
- It wont be so intimidating
