Re: Introduce yourself: Say hi !

Hello everyone,
I am a 37 year old male who is married to a beautiful and caring woman who stood by my side through a spinal cord injury(incomplete quad C 4-5; C-6-7) that changed our lives forever. I was working in the criminal defense/legal field while going to school before my injury back in 2003. I am now on permanent disability and confined to a bed, a really nice Tempur-Pedic bed . My injury is a bit odd, I can actually walk very short distances with the help of a cane/walker. However, my injury has left me with severe Neuropathic pain that puts huge limitations on what I can do in terms of mobility, what I can sit on, what I can wear, can not get in the sun or wind and weather plays a huge role as well! ...This is why I love my Tempur-Pedic bed and seat cushions for my wheelchair. THANKS TO NASA! My ability to walk is limited due to pain but more to spasticity in my legs. If anyone is interested in understanding more about spinal cord injuries try this link http://www.thescizone.com/questions/...ic-pain/1.html
I am under the care of a whole team of wonderful doctors and nurses at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Ga. This is a spinal cord and brain injury rehab/care facility that performs such wonderful acts of kindness and care one can not put into words what these folks do for people in my situation. I am a veteran of the United States Air Force as well.

I am now starting to get comfortable with the changes in my life due in large part from the support my wife has given me and the help I get from my doctors...And technology! What I discovered is I need to find hobby and a place or places to hang out on the web and utilize all this time I have. LOL!

So, I just built my first computer (Windows VISTA Ult.64; Asus P5K-E MB; Intel Q6600; 2x1GB Crucial RAM; BFG 8800GT 512mb GC; 500GB 7200rpm HD; LITE-ON DVD/CD burner w/ light-scribe)

I never knew how much I would enjoy building a computer! Now I am trying to learn how to use the tools that I have in terms of organizing my home movies/DVD's, music CD's and learning how to properly back-up my system in case of problems. This is why I am here.

I would love suggestions and tips on how to go about doing these things and what software would be best for me and my limited knowledge on these topics. I have used computers for a long time but I never have used them efficiently, I guess is what i am trying to say.

I have always used REAL Player for my music and the occasional disc burn. I have bought music from their store as well...However, I have not loaded anything on my new computer. I want to learn more about what types of software are out there and whether or not REAL Player is the best choice for me and what I plan on doing. I have a superpass membership which opens up numerous tools for working with my media files/burning disc. If you guys think there are better applications out there then I would love to hear about them.

I guess what I am trying to say is, I hate the limits I seem to have with REAL Player in terms of using my BOUGHT and PAID for media when and where I want to...HELP PLEASE! LOL!

Look forward to meeting people and learning stuff!
