No ,
4.2.9.13 should NOT be there
- Remove
You might need this ....
If - it becomes necessary

DVD43 launches automatically at start up. Can I change it so that it doesn't?
Not related, but Creative Diagnostics Agent also launches automatically. Can I change that also?
After all the downloads, there are these setup icons on my desk top. Can I click on them and delete them?

You may Delete the shortcuts if you prefer
You may 'pin to start menu' or access through "All Programs'
Open
Advanced Windows Care Personal > Tools > Start-Up Manager
( it's completely free and a very recommended clean-up program )
You will be presented with a listing of the Programs
- Programs that are designated to Start-Up with Windows
- and Descriptions of Each ( Click on Selection )
Any Start Up Entry - Referring to any DVD/CD Software ?
Windows Media Player ?
ITunes ?
CloneCD ?
If So = UN Check it
This only Disables the Program - from the List
- Designated to 'Start-Up' - with Windows
You would - still - be able to 'manually' start the Program(s) - when needed
Also ......
UN Check anything - Not Trustworthy
UN Check anything - Not Necessary or Not Preferred
( you may click on an Start-Up item > Select Disable - If you prefer )
>> Apply
> Reboot
or -
You could also , Go into Msconfig - and Deselect unneeded Programs
- from your 'Start Up"
This will help a lot .....
Do I really need this on my PC? How to use MSCONFIG ? Quote:
When I did my firmware update from liteon, I'm pretty sure that I clicked on GDHJ but I got GDHG. Should I try that again?
After all that, I made a backup of a movie. It seemed to take a bit longer than I recalled.

Did your Reboot ?
Maybe you'll fine help with your Drive's Firmware here :
LiteOn Firmwares/codeguys.rpc1.org
Make Sure your Drives are Empty
Be sure to Exit DVD43
- before Installing the Firmware

With the new 1Click, are there any changes that I might need to know in order to make my life and backing up easier

>>> Everything You Need to Know About 1ClickDVDCopy .... but Were Afraid to Ask .... <<<
Right Click on the 1Click Interface > Settings Menu
>>
Set= Your "Preferred Burn Speed" at 1/2 of your Media's rating
ie: IF You're using 16x Media = 8x ;
8x Media = Set for 4x
>>
UN Check= Enable media stats collection - VSO
>>
Set= Your "DVD-R Write Mode" at "Try SAO First"

Is there some way to speed up the process a bit?
I checked my Secondary IDE channel. They are both set to DMA if available but I couldn't set the current transfer mode to Ultra DMA. It is set to PIO mode

DMA Issues - Checking and Setting // Slow Read and Burn Speeds
I would go ahead and .....
Try Refreshing Your IDE/DVD Drivers
( same procedure for Resetting a 'stubborn" DMA )
Use this Link for reference :
http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=101616
Empty your CD/DVD Drives
Go to >
>> Start > Right Click on My Computer > Properties > Hardware Tab
>> Device Manager
Click the + to Open the IDE ATA ATAPI Controllers
Right Click on the IDE Channel > Properties > Advanced Tab
The First Primary IDE Should read @ Ultra DMA Mode 5
This is Correct = It's your Hard Drive
> Either a Secondary IDE OR a 'Second' Primary IDE
Should have Two Devices ( DVD/CD Drives )
Each Device Should be reading Ultra DMA mode 2
( Depending on the DVD Drive - One might read : Ultra DMA mode 4 )
This will be the 'corresponding' IDE Channel - supporting your DVD/CD Drives
If it instead Reads : PIO ...... Yes , that's the one you're looking for
Even though It may be 'reading' DMA correctly ;
Follow these instructions
> Go into your Device Manager
> UN install Any/
All DVD/CD Drives ( Yes , IF : Both Drives )
> Right Click on Drive > Select=UNinstall
#### Do not restart Yet #####
> UN install the corresponding IDE Channel
> Right Click on IDE Channel , Select=UNinstall
>
Now REboot
>> REboot
again
This will force the Reinstall of DVD Device Drivers - Refreshing the Drivers
- which may correct any 'communication' issues/corruption
If for some reason your DMA is 'out-of-whack'
- The above will fix that too
At any rate ; It won't hurt
- It may correct any Drive Communication Issues
At the First sign of any trouble .
this is usually the first thing I'll do .
You may have just left in a "Skipping Bad Sector"/ CRC error for too long
