Re: HDMI Cables Brand Differences ???

From my latest experience with a hdmi cable I bought from a close out store was way different. This cable was $12.00 us it was a brand I had seen before at K-mart so I bought it.I first used it on the xbox 360 and the color was dull, the sound was at least digital (dolby ex) on dvd's not pll 2x.The picture was awful, not vibrant, just dull. The component cables that came with it produced a way better, clearer, vibrant picture on my LG 47LC7DF flat screen. I then tried it on the Toshiba HD-A30 and same results,it did have the hdmi logo on it. I bought one of Best Buys brand for 15.00 us (open box) and it was way better and everything now the sound seemed the same. I have to go with the digital out on the TV to the Onkyo HT-R530 which does not have the HD audio capabilities. So I believe there is a diference in the cables.

For extremely long cable runs, (>20') there may be some advantage to a heavier cable, but that's a different discussion.
