teh roxxors is using your uninstall guide.

only difference i can see from his post is that he uses regedit to delete
dvdfab entries instead of regseeker.

I didn't tell the software to use the E: drive, which is the Lite-On CD writer.... Perhaps because it is the first logical writing drive?
New Drive selected : 0:0:0 - SONY DVD RW DRU-820A 2.0c [H] (Usb)
Current Drive selected : 1:0:0 - LITE-ON LTR-52246S 6S0F [E] (Ide)

yes you are correct. this is normal and will not interfere with the burning process.

On my machine, something happens when a new version is installed atop an older version..... Program refuses to write following update install. Uninstall & reinstall program. Program starts writing again without any problems.

is this the
only time you have problems writing? or will you have problems again say after a few writes or after a couple of days?
do you have other dvd burning programs installed which may interfere with VSO? such as ner0 incd or
anydvd?
have you tried setting the burning to use imgburn from dvdfab?
before the next time you uninstall dvdfab, uninstall the pcouffin driver from device manager and disconnect and uninstall your usb drive. after reboot and before installing dvdfab again reconnect your dvd drive.
