Re: LG GGW-H20L : Scans and discussion here

I bought this drive from frys.com about 2 weeks ago (ordered by phone) and am pleased with it so far. My job calls for me to spend most of the next 12 weeks away from home. So this weekend, when I was at home, I used this drive and BackupBluray to rip Terminator 2, The Prestige, and Casino Royale to an external hard drive. Then I installed the PowerDVD that came on the CD with the drive on my dual-core laptop and am able to play the m2ts files back (away from home).

YMMV, but I was also able to use the Nero 7 Express essentials that came with my retail Pioneer 112D and the one BD-RE disc that came with the drive to make a backup of Terminator 2. I used BackupBluray and placed all the ripped files into a blank "Stream" directory. I then copied all of the other folders off the original disc. Burned all folders as a data Blu-ray, and the backup played from beginning to end (menus and all) in my Panasonic DMP-BD30.

I highly recommend this drive to anyone wanting to rip and play movies on a non-HDCP compliant display Blank BD-R are still expensive, so hey're not really worth backing up yet - but it's still nice having the burner to use in the future when they get cheaper.

BTW, thanks nekrosoft13, for providing the PLU number for this item. I couldn't have ordered the burner from fry's without it.
