UDF 2.60 is readable under Windows if you install InCD Reader. I also remember that I saw a patch for the Linux kernel supporting 2.50 and 2.60, but I must admit that I never tested it.

Regarding the FireWire, accessing a HDD is much less complicated than burning a disc
