Rumor has it that Japan already have plans (and the property) to set up an entire moon base. The US of A presumably "own" the moon because they were the first to put a flag on it.

Personally, i think it would be freaking awesome if someone discovers that the moon is just a big huge alien laboratory to see how these meaty creatures on that watery blue planet down there are doing.
