Portmac and signals,

Thank you for your reviews and posts on this issue. I've since performed both suggestions (Reset DMA/Reduced Burn Speeds), and I have had no problems for over a week. I've backed up about 6 other movies without encountering any errors!

I am not exactly sure what the fix was, but its working now because of both your suggestions!

I'm still puzzled on why all of a sudden it started happening...erroring, etc....I've left DVDFab at default settings and used the same media (Roll of 100) for a few months now. Just found it strange that I went from 100% backup success to several constant and regular failures.

A final question on media;

I typically purchase DVD's on sale....It seems the media I am buying is inadequate, affording poor performance and results according to Portmac. I've bought Magnavox, Memorex, Hi-Val, Kypermedia, etc. Perhaps poor choices, but 95% of the time, it all works OK!

Can either/both of you offer suggestions on what brand DVDs I should be buying? Which DVDs have better quality and performance history?
Does it matter what type of Burner is used too?
Can you suggest a good Burner brand/model to use in the future?

In any event...I appreciate your time/support, this particular issue can now be formally closed to great satisfaction.
