| Re: Anyone heard of notebook DVDburner Phillips SDVD8820? I have one on my work Dell D820 latitude laptop - I have just tried a quality check on a disk I burned at home and it couldn't even get as far as spinning up the disk. I put the DVD (Datawrite Titanium DVD-R written at 8X on an NEC 3520A latest firmware) into an Evesham laptop with a Sony DW Q58A UY53 and the disk passed the test at 8X read speed pretty well. One spike above 3 on PI Failiures (spiked at 6) and the PI Errors never got above 50.
I tried a few more of the Titanium data backup disks that I keep at work (in case my house burns down) and every one that passed quality testing at home (and seems OK on the Evesham laptop) struggles on the Dell. In other words, this DVD-RW drive is pants! Also, not only does it read disks poorly, but sometime it sounds like a rotary lawnmower when spinning up!
