It's really a tossup between the two (Maxell or Fuji). RicohJPN R03 has been a proven good disc, but is definately variable in quality. I've not been able to test Prodisc R04 myself, but I've had excellent results with a variety of Prodisc +R media (R03 and R05).
According to the database at
www.videohelp.com, Fuji 16x +R media can be Philips C01, Prodisc R05, or Ritek F16. The overwhelming majority (including myself) have received Prodisc R05. Which I've had great results with (~10k PIE, ~500 PIF totals).
It's possible Ritek F16 is using Fuji's dye while their P16 or R05 is using another dye. I can't recall seeing F16 from another brand, maybe others can confirm.
