There are other methods to tell including hub serial numbers.

"16x are as good as 8x, but usually only when burned at 12x
the + is better than the -, but they're both supposedly good.

I guess DD is of the opinion Moser Baer Verbatim is better than Prodisc Verbatim (I do not share that opinion, but he does test more media than I do on a wider variety of burners). Regardless, he obviosly feels (as I do) that CMC Verbatim is better than either.
