As mentioned above, Memorex are real cheap quality media.
Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden or most media
made in Japan are 1st class quality media.

ConvertXtoDVD can write DVD-R in 2 methods.
Packet Writting

Session at once (SAO)
In the settings, I have enabled
[X] Use SAO for DVD-R.
On most burners, both method should work !
