There is no website guide which any experienced user would reccommend, but if you use Verbatim-branded media or Taiyo Yuden media, your chances of recording problems should be low.
Agreed. I'd recommend to visit the CDF blank media forum (linked to above). I wouldn't recommend any specific website guide, as opinions differ, and what one website may call trash or landfill media may be perfectly OK for "everyday" use.

As mentioned, Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim media are safe bets, and Verbatim especially seems to be very well supported firmware-wise.
