Could be what you installed interfered.

That said, sometimes going into Device Manager and deleting all the IDE devices, then deleting the IDE controller itself and rebooting, allowing the items to be re-discovered, can shock things back into their proper config. I've had to do it a few dozen times over the years and it seems to work well.
