Doesn't this software come with any instructions..?

Never used it, but:

Set aspect ratio to 16:9 and a target size of 1 GB. If it's as good as they say then it should work out the screen resolutions and bitrate stuff for you.
Oh, and if you want better compatibility with other players, de-select Qpel, GMC and packed bitstream (if they are there as options).
Err... that's it.
