Here's what I'd do:
- uninstall the Intel Application Accelerator under Control Panel/Software (once you've found the problem - and this is not it - you can re-install if you wish).
- go in Device Manager and right-click on both Primary and Secondary IDE Channels and select "Uninstall" (don't reboot, shut down the PC instead).
- remove power from your PC and hold the power button in for a couple seconds.
- open your case and verify that you're using 80-wire IDE ribbon cable.
- connect the blue connector of the ribbon cable to the Secondary IDE port on your mainboard (it's now on the Primary).
- connect the Sony to the other end of the cable and set the jumper on the back of the drive to Master (MA).
- connect power and start your PC, Windows will re-install the IDE Channels and new hardware found.
- verify that the drive is running in Ultra DMA mode 4 in Device Manager and try it out.
- if it still doesn't work, buy a new 80-wire ribbon cable (Ultra DMA 66/100).
- update
Nero to version 6.6.0.18 (compatible with
DVD Shrink) or 6.6.1.4 (latest).
Good luck!
