I ran two different burners with three different media and get the same problem. The burns goes just find and after writing the buffers it freezes and won't eject, requiring a complete shutdown. The disc is fine.

Switched back to 2.8.8.2. and all is fine again. Certainly possible that it is my hardware but it doesn't look like it. Any other ideas?
