Re: Make backup of DVD navigation disc

Looks like the DVD navigation software makers have changed the encryption on these discs. I ordered an updated disc for my Infiniti G35 (the maker is Zenrin - DVD Version 7.1) ans now I cannot make a backup copy either using BenQ and the Verbatim DVD+R Dual Layer disks. I even tried it on my new BenQ 1655 and exact same results ... the disc won't read in the car navigation system.

So unless someone figures out the encryption it will be hard to make a backup of these discs.

Yesterday, I tried another burn with the (slightly) updated firmware with identical results.

I think we should definitely try something. I now see a few paths we can take:

1) Try DVD-R DL media (Very difficult to find, and still pretty expensive)
2) Get the BenQ (Even more expensive, really no need for another drive if it doesn't work)
3) Try DVD-R DL media in the BenQ (Most expensive)

I guess DVD-R DL is the cheapest thing to try first. Although I highly doubt it'll even work. Getting a BenQ drive and trying our existing DVD+R DL media seems like the best bet, although it still feels like a pretty long shot. The last option would be the last-ditch effort.
