I was just thinking...this might have something to do with
firewalls and VSO calling home. Not saying for sure, but it seems a little too coincidental.
As Portmac describes the phoning home:
"...It is the burning engine (made by VSO-Software) sending the burn stats to the VSO media stats database. It sends information about the burner/media used, burn speed, amount written, date of burn, total burn time, success/failure, error codes if it failed.
There is no identifyable information sent at all..."
This is ok with me and my system, but no doubt, there is variability as far as how each system responds to this. I'm behind a hardware (router) fw, as well as a software fw (norton - which for the first time in many years, I will not be renewing). In my paranoia, I seldom grant permanent "permission" to programs I have installed. Instead, I grant access on a single time basis. To my knowledge, there is no way to disable this "phoning home" within the fab application.
So, re: fab, each time my disc has burned and just prior to finalizing/ejecting, my little fw window pops up and basically freezes the application until I choose permit or block. As soon as I click either one...out pops the disc.
Hope this helps,
Tom
