There is a way to backup a DVD-A disc with success... You must first install windvd 5, 6, or 7. Then use a tool called DVDARipper. This is a command line utility, and hooks in with the windvd software while its decoding the aob files and outputs unencrypted files to the specified folder... you can then use whatever tools you normally use to copy the video_ts folder, and add the decrypted audio_ts folder to the compilation and burn. Obviously you will require the original dvd to do this, so the copy protection is still pretty good...
