A couple of brief questions please to the experts on this site.
I have uninstalled/installed multiple DVD player software on my XP SP2 equipped computer and still can't get it to play a DVD since reloading the software. My DVD drive plays CD's perfectly and when opened dispays all DVD files just fine. I have the proper encoder/decoder codec's installed for Cyberlink's
PowerDVD 4.0. Place a DVD in the drive, boot the program, hit play and the software disappears. Same scenario with Windows Media Player 10 that I also have installed on my machine. Have tried other DVD playing software packages and the same thing. I am at a loss....can't figure it out. The only two things left are drivers and/or perhaps something in my registry that is keeping a DVD from playing. I have all orginal audio/video drivers installed that used to work with Cyberlink 4.0. I can play stored AVI video fine from my digital camera for example on Windows Media Player 10. I have my video acceleration set low as suggested. Is it something in my registry that is incompatible with running a DVD? Or perhaps I should change my DMA settings to store DVD files in my computer RAM so the DVD files can be accessed by player software?
Would greatly appreciate any advice,
George
