I'm so sick and tired of that same old argument over and over! I've been playing video games ad nauseum since I was 4 years old, and I have never once tried to enact a situation that I saw in any one of them! Plus, video games have a RATINGS SYSTEM in place to let parents know what is in the game their little angel wants so desperately. I heard the most ridiculous statement from some state representative about how the ratings system is useless and has failed us, and "we have to protect our children", in the wake of the infamous "Hot Coffee" incident.

HELLO? GTA: San Andreas was already rated Mature!!! 17+!!! It is the fault of the parents that these games were being played by children! We need to protect our children from their idiot parents! Of course the problem is lax parenting, with no priorities being set, no ground rules, no moral and value base to fall back on, etc. I don't know why these parents expect their children to be raised by everyone except themselves!

It's infuriating! My husband and I have had several serious conversations about moving out of the United States in the interest of our son, who's only 3 years old right now. Our government is not helping matters by proposing and passing retarded laws that practically handcuff parents if they attempt any form of discipline. Those laws were originally in place to protect children from REAL abuse, not a quick swat on the behind! I'm getting mad just typing this, so I'll let it drop here. You guys can sort it out...grumble
