I have never seen a TDK 100x proof DVD disc myself. Anything that makes manufacturing process more complex will lead to more $ to end users. However, it will surely make Blu-ray cheaper by removing cartdriges to compete better against HD-DVD (not that it will cost less to produce Blu-ray with TDK coating than HD-DVD.)
